People say they pair it with other compounds, mostly for old tendon or joint injuries.
Community reports
Community research usually pairs TB-500 with other recovery compounds. Reports often focus on stubborn tendon, ligament, muscle, or joint problems rather than quick day-to-day effects.
Community reports
People mostly use TB-500 alongside BPC-157 for tendon, ligament, and post-surgery recovery, and many say pain and swelling eased up faster than expected. Almost every success story also involved other treatments at the same time, so it's hard to say TB-500 alone gets the credit.
Most studies test its parent protein in animals, with a little work on human wounds.
Most published research is on thymosin beta-4 in animals, with a smaller amount of human wound-healing research.
The broader partner to BPC-157, discussed for whole-body support across muscle and connective tissue.
What this is based on
- Animal researchUseful for understanding a research question, but not the same as evidence in people.
- Community reportsWhat people describe noticing. Not proof of cause.
- Industry perspectiveCommentary from practitioners and the industry, based on experience. Not a study.
- Learn Peptides explanationOur own plain-English summary of the sources. It is not a source itself.
Studies of the full protein do not prove the same for every product called TB-500.
Research on full-length thymosin beta-4 does not automatically prove the same effects for every product called TB-500 or TB-500 fragment.
Safety notes
Seen in animal studies. Results in animals often do not carry over to people.
- You have trouble breathing or wheezing, or your face, lips, tongue or throat swell.
- You get hives away from the injection site, or feel severely dizzy or faint.
For these signs, call 911 or your local emergency number.
- Redness spreads, or heat, swelling or pain keeps growing where you injected.
- A lump keeps growing or does not go away, or you see pus or red streaks.
- You have a fever or chills, or feel sick all over.
- Cancer, now or in the past. Studies link the protein it comes from to tumor spread and new blood-vessel growth. The cited commentary says to avoid it with active or recent cancer, and calls the risk unresolved: a theoretical concern, not a settled answer. One 2023 study even found thymosin beta-4 suppressed lung cancer in a different way. Talk to your oncologist first.
- Banned for tested/competitive athletes. Industry perspective
- Poor oral bioavailability: injection is the practical route. Industry perspective
- Injection site redness or itchiness can occur; Benadryl usually helps. Industry perspective
- Some people feel light-headed after injecting; eating beforehand can help. Industry perspective
- Long-term human safety data beyond a normal cycle length doesn't exist, which is part of why the cited commentary still recommends cycling even without evidence of desensitization.

A lab-made piece of a natural body protein, most often paired with BPC-157.
TB-500 is a synthetic fragment of Thymosin Beta-4, a protein the body already makes. Where BPC-157 tends to work locally, TB-500 is discussed as acting more systemically, for the kind of chronic tightness that slows recovery down. Part of how it is proposed to work is by encouraging new blood vessel growth, which is also why it is the compound people with a history of cancer most often choose to avoid. It's almost never discussed on its own; it comes up as BPC-157's usual pairing.
People often pair these two for injury recovery. They are different compounds, so it helps to compare what people report, what studies show and the cautions for each.
